Blue Bears Invitational
The Blue Bears Invitational is a 3-day meet open to all Keyano swimmers. There are little prizes for heat winners throughout the 3-session competition.
Friday PM
Unlike the Candy Cane meet in December, the Friday PM this time is for Distance events (400m 10&u and 800/1500m Freestyle for 11&o) so is primarily for higher-level swimmers. Development groups will have normal practice on Friday PM and only the few kids ready for those distance events will go to Blue Bears.
Saturday & Sunday
These sessions are Timed Finals, which means that each event is swum only once and ranked accordingly. There is no Finals session.
There are a few more events available at this competition compared to Candy Cane, so some swimmers may get their first chance to swim up to a longer event that they have not done in competition before. Many young ones will be giving their last best shot to qualify for the first Alberta Festival of the season.
Prizes
The key to a prize at Blue Bears is to win a bell heat. :)
All swimmers will race in their age group (10&u, 11-12, 13-14 or 15&o) and seeded based on their best times so that heats are as even as possible. Doing your own best time is always priority number one, but winning a heat is a fun bonus. Even better is when you hear a bell before your heat!
A Bell Heat means that the heat winner will win a prize!
Volunteering
Job Sign Up will be open for this swim meet, as it is a Keyano-hosted competition. Jobs are usually posted ~2-3 weeks out with a general notification sent to members. Please come and help us out, earn a few participation points, and enjoy the atmosphere that Keyano puts on for the kids at this meet. :)
