On Monday Dec 16th we will be hosting a Gold Distance Challenge at Kinsmen.
We are hoping that all Gold swimmers can attend.
Recently Keyano has had some great success in distance swimming be it Emma at the Olympics, Zac Bowie in Senior Nat being selected to attend a Swim Canada distance camp in Mallorca, Spain or recently Abby, Ruth and Maëlle in Junior Nat attending a joint distance camp with swimmers from Alberta and BC along with coaching representatives from Swimming Canada.
At many development meets distance events are not offered and then at other meets you have to have a time standard to enter or they only allow X number of swimmers to participate. As such we have organized this event in a low stress environment to promote distance swimming to the next wave of Keyano swimmers.
Swimmers can plan to arrive at 3:45 but we know that is difficult with school so just get there when you can and write in the notes if it will be after 4:15 so that we can plan accordingly.
We have ~14 lanes available from 4:00-6:45 to run a short warm up and get the kids through hopefully 2 distance races each and a relay if time allows.
Events offered will include: 800 free, 400 free, 400 IM, 200 breast and 200 fly. We are hoping that Swim Alberta will allow us to input the results as a mail in meet in at least the 400 and 800 free if not all the races where stroke and turn infractions are not common but if nothing else coaches will know who is ready to do these races at other meets and what time to estimate.
