Keyano's Reid Maxwell starts Paralympic dream on Aug 31!

The Paralympic Opening Ceremonies kick off today, August 28th, in Paris. Swimming will be front and centre again, and Keyano's Reid Maxwell heads into the games with five events on his racing schedule. At just 16 years old (he turns 17 at the games) Reid has a very bright future and will kick off his first Paralympics on Saturday (we will see his preliminary races in the early morning starting at 1:00am Mountain Time; and, Finals starting around 9:30am Mountain Time daily).

Reid's last competition was at the Canadian Summer Championships at the end of July, after which he has been training with national Para Swimming coach Haley Bennett and fellow Paralympian Nick Bennett from Red Deer. Nick is another great local story who has spent a few weeks training here in Edmonton preparing for Paris. We wish him all the best of luck and are happy to have another friendly face to follow while watching the Paralympics over the next 12 days.
