This is the Year-End event for qualified Jr National and Sr National swimmers for the 2022-23 swim season. Far Westerns is one of the most competitive competitions in North America with over 1000 swimmers competing from California and surrounding areas. This is Keyano's first chance to travel to Far Westerns since well before Covid started, but has been one of the traditional end-of-cycle competitions for Keyano and other top Canadian clubs for decades. 
 
Qualifying:
  • Note that this is an 18 & younger competition.
  • Please see the attached meet information and qualifying times.
  • Swimmers who do not qualify for this event will be eligible for the 2023 Summer Provincials in Edmonton. 
  • Swimmers 18&older should be signing up for the Fullerton Sectionals event. 
Travel Options:
Please note your travel preference on your sign-up notes. 
  1. Team Travel: Declare "Team Travel". For team travel, swimmers will travel with club staff and stay in the club hotel with their team traveling teammates. 
  2. Team Hotel for families:  Declare "Team Hotel only". We have a large block of rooms reserved (2 Queens) at the Best Western Heritage Inn, for $140USD (includes tax) per night. In an effort to keep more of the team together throughout the event, we are offering to families traveling with their swimmers the opportunity to stay in the club hotel.  
  3. On your own: Declare "On my own".
Deadline: Friday, April 28
April 28 will be the final deadline to declare yourself for team travel or team hotel. 
 
Organizing team travel becomes extremely difficult when multiple members make special request on arrival, departure dates, delaying their declaration, etc. We are extremely eager to help, but that eagerness can sometimes hurt our ability to finalize our bookings. Please make all special requests before April 28 and note that these will be subject to further approval. Our priority will be to book the main travel and hotel dates as soon as possible to secure the best possible fares and rates. 
 
Late qualifiers may sign up subject to availability after the deadline. It will be imperative to let the coach and club know as soon as possible if you would like to be added to team travel to give the best chance of finding suitable travel options for you. 
 
Cost:
After the entry deadline, families are responsible for the cost of any bookings related to their sign-up. Refunds or credit may be return only if the club is able to recover such costs. A cost estimate will be provided once group bookings have a firm quote and an event deposit will be added to your subsequent invoice.
 
Early cost estimates based on available data are:

  • $720-850 Flight
  • $600-650 Hotel
  • $100 Transportation
  • $360-400 Food
    • $1780-$2000 before staff costs
  • $300 Chaperone*
  • $200 Coach*
    • $2280-$2500 including staff costs
* Staff costs depend heavily on number of attendees; this estimate would be on the high end of possibilities.
